EMMA projects - Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute Mouse Genetics Program (MGP)

The Sanger Institute's mouse genetics group is running an extensive sequence/phenotype driven mutagenesis programme as part of an international effort aimed at mutating over 95 percent of known mouse genes in embryonic stem cells by 2011. The mice generated by the programme will be made freely available to the scientific community as they are generated, with minimal material transfer agreement conditions.

All mutant mouse lines generated at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute will be examined using a common battery of phenotyping tools and the data published on this website. The intention is to associate the loss of function of genes (mutations) with disease processes and developmental abnormalities.

All resources generated by this programme will be freely available to the scientific community after the mice have been generated.

EMMA will support the Sanger Institute by making all of the mutant mouse lines produced by this MGP available to the wider scientific community.
